Students in Oxford considering their next steps beyond GCSE and A Level studies are invited to learn more about a football-based educational academy delivered at Oxford City FC.
Velocity Football will open its doors on Wednesday, October 23, from 6:30pm to prospective students and their parents or carers interested in learning more about the programme which combines full-time training with matches, sport business and education.
Open to male and female learners aged 16 or older, Velocity delivers industry recognised qualifications in the sports sector with graduates beginning full-time employment, broadening their studies via an apprenticeship or university or pursuing the dream of playing professionally.
The programme’s October open event will provide more insights into aspects of the course including modules delivered, enrichment activities, coaching opportunities and wellbeing.
Former Professional player Eddie Odhiambo now operates as Velocity’s Head of Football.
He encouraged aspiring young players to sign-up to the evening, and those interested in pursuing a career in sport.
“Velocity is a one of its kind football programme for Oxfordshire, combining mainstream and Alternative Provision,” said Eddie. “We’re committed to helping young footballers aspire to reach their true potential and play at the highest level while establishing the foundations required for a successful career in sport.
“Our strong partnership with Oxford City FC means we are privileged to provide the facilities and opportunities to talented young players who demonstrate the enthusiasm and commitment required.
“Equally, development opportunities aren’t ring-fenced around the football pitch. Previous graduates have gone on to secure exciting roles in coaching, the media and grounds maintenance among others.
“Our experienced team of qualified coaches take great satisfaction seeing learners develop skills on and off the pitch and we look forward to seeing prospective learners on the night.”
Students interested in registering for Velocity Football’s October open event can do so by visiting www.velocityfootball.co.uk/contact-us and completing the sign-up form. The event begins at 6:30pm with parking available onsite.
