Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport

  • Full-time two-year course
  • Worth up to three A Levels
  • For those intending to follow a career as a sports coach
  • No exams – internal and synoptic assessment only
  • Optional sports coaching and refereeing / umpiring certificates
  • Work experience with Oxford City FC

Entry requirements

• 5 GCSEs (9-4), including English and Maths

• English and Maths lessons and exams are compulsory for those students allowed onto the programme with grades 3 and below.

Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Sport

  • Full-time one-year course
  • At least two days of lectures and seminars
  • At least one day in a work placement
  • Understand the roles of sports development and coaching
  • Work experience with Oxford City FC

    Units include

    • Nutrition

    • Fundamentals of sport and exercise psychology

    • Anatomy and physiology 

    • Professional skills

    • Coaching practice and skills development

    • Lifestyle and health

    • Injury prevention

    Pathways

    • Built as a three-year pathway - HNC, HND, BA

    • Designed to be flexible


    Entry requirements

    • 96 UCAS points

    • GCSE English and Maths or access to HE certificate

Level 2 BTEC First Extended Certificate in Sport

  • One-year course
  • Worth up to three GCSEs
  • For those intending to follow a career as a sports coach
