A partnership which will help increase fitness provision on the Velocity Football programme has been formed with our neighbour Oxsrad.
Based next-door to our home at Oxford City Football Club, Oxsrad is a fully inclusive sports and recreation centre open to people of all ages.
The site boasts a well-equipped gym, sports hall, spinning studio, dance studio, spa bath and café. All its facilities have been created to cater for disabled and non-disabled users.
In addition to having full access to the facilities at the Velocity Stadium, including two 3G pitches, a mini-gym, classrooms, changing rooms and social areas, students can now visit Oxsrad to complement their training sessions.
Louise Merritt, Operations Director at Velocity Football said: “This is an exciting new partnership created to help us provide an enhanced level of service and development opportunities to our students. It is great to strengthen our relationship with Oxsrad via this partnership.”
Lauren Haynes, Head Coach of Velocity Football’s female programme, said: “Fitness is applied to most modules students study at Velocity.
“It’s not only relevant to their work in the classroom, but also their development on the pitch, both in training and for matches. Our partnership with Oxsrad will help students wishing to put the extra hours into developing their fitness levels.
“The site is multifunctional and is strongly embedded into the local community. We look forward to working closely with Oxsrad in the future.”
Velocity Football’s partnership with Oxsrad will apply for the 2021-22 academic year.
It means new students will be entitled to the same benefits as first and second-year graduates who will be advancing their studies in September.
Lauren added: “Development is at the heart of our philosophy at Velocity Football and our partners play an important role in helping us ensure our students fulfil their potential.
“Students are able to develop their knowledge of football and sports coaching plus other areas including physiotherapy, nutrition and psychology. I would encourage anyone considering their options for the 2021-22 academic year to consider how we can help ignite your future career.”
Based at the entrance to Court Place Farm, Oxsrad welcomes 350 members weekly who use facilities independently or join the wide range of classes and activities available.
